RANGER REPORT

"Everything we do has significance. Every action, every thought leaves an imprint-not only on the self, but on the world, on the others, and even on time, on all who come after us! This implies a responsibilty for one's thoughts & actions that should be taken most seriously!"
-R. Crumb

Yes. I have just returned from the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia where I took my two sons to see the amazing R. Crumb exhibit. If you want to see it you better hurry because it ends Dec. 7.

We here at Manatees Headquarters hope that you and yours had a happy Thanksgiving. Now it is time to break out your Mighty Manatees Christmas CD which was released two years ago and has become a timeless family holiday classic. (well for some of us anyway)

And speaking of holidays: We will be playing an all-ages holiday show at the famous Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, Dec. 23. This is an annual event that also coincides with Ted The Fiddler's birthday party. Ted hosts the show which starts at 8:00pm.

Manatees Fun Fact: Did you know that Ted The Fiddler is a projectionist at The Colonial Theater and also holds film festivals in his own home featuring his remarkable collection of classic 16mm films? It's true! (bonus fun fact: Henry Houdini once performed at The Colonial Theater)

And speaking of famous Americans: Next week, Friday, Dec. 14, The Mighty Manatees return to Chaplin's in Spring City, PA. (Charlie Chaplin once performed there) This is an all-ages BYOB event.
For all of you who cannot attend: the show will be streamed live so you can watch it on your computer in real time. Just go to www.chaplinsthemusiccafe.com Showtime is 9:00pm est.

The Mighty Manatees play New Year's Eve at The Drafting Room in Spring House, PA www.draftingroom.com The band starts at 10:00pm and plays two 1 1/2 hour sets. Come and ring in this historic new year.

Our November trip to New York City to play the famous Bitter End went swimmingly. Singer/songwriter Geof Brackett opened the show. We got up and played with him on the last song of his set, the great "Freedom Train". Then Geof left the stage and we continued. During our set writer/poet Brian Hassett got up with us and did a spoken word piece while we jammed behind him.
A splendid time was had by all.

Manatees Fun Fact: Did you know that this week's CityPaper features an article on Manatees vocalist Kathleen Weber and her recent trip to Haiti with The Angel Band? It's true! www.angelband.net

Stocking Stuffer Dept.: The Mighty Manatees are pleased to announce their new fridge magnets! A full-color 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" reproduction of the cover of our new CD (artwork by Liam Hodgson) lovingly created by magnet artist John Richmond www.PositiveRockArt.com Use my child's artwork to hold up your child's artwork (thanks Mr. Jimmy) Free to the public while supplies last!

New Segment Dept.: I write a comic strip that appears in the Montgomery County Woman newspaper. If you want to read it click here: http://themightymanatees.com/images/SW1.jpg

Well that's about it for now. Everyone here at Manatees Headquarters want to wish everyone out there a very merry holiday season and all the best in the new year.

Manatee Fun Fact: Did you know that with a name like The Mighty Manatees you have to be good? It's true!

Cheers!,
