Hello Firstname

Wednesday 9 July
The highlight of the year's programme and the night you've all been waiting for - it's the AGM. This is your chance to hear what's going on behind the scenes at BPS and have your say (I can't promise you'll be heard, but I've got to persuade you to turn up somehow!).

The AGM will only take us up to the tea break; after that, we will have entertainment of a different sort, but again provided (in part) by you, the members. This will take the form of a competition of images taken at the Studio Group meetings over the last couple of years with the audience voting to decide an eventual winner. This is something different and should prove to be good fun.

Wednesday 20 August
This is a plea from the Programme Secretary. Wednesday 20 August is an evening when various members have a 15 minute "slot" in the evening to show us some of their work (either prints or projected images). Mike & Derwood are looking for volunteers to take those slots, so if you're interested in showing us what you've been up to, then either have a word with Mike or Dertwood or email Mike at mwb.rpic@btinternet.com

President's Cup & Garmston Bowl
Last Wednesday saw the President's Cup and Garmston Bowl competitions staged. This year the judge was an old friend of BPS, Glyn Edmunds from Hayling Island. Glyn treated us to an entertaining and light hearted evening of judging sprinkled with a liberal application of humorous asides. The results of the two competitions are as follows.

Sad Passing
I'm sorry to have to report the sad passing of a dear friend of many BPS members. The Royal Oak in The Mall closed today and is due to be changed to one of those wretched gastro pubs. A passing that will be mourned by many.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
There are two successes to report this week, one from John Hudson and the other from Derwood Pamphilon.
  • John entered the Hoylake International and had 7 of his 8 images accepted, this included 3 Honourable Mentions.
  • Derwood entered two images in an exhibition of mixed media in California and had both accepted, you can visit the official exhibition website by clicking here.
Both members are now regularly getting acceptances in internationals and gaining awards - well done to both.

If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Items For Sale
Items will remain in this section for one month from the date of insertion or until notification of sale, whichever is the sooner.
(17/07) Jettec ink cartridges - 6 x E07 (Black) and 3 x E09 (Colour), these are replacements for Epson T007 & T009. These normally retail at £3.99 & £4.99 respectively - a snip at £20 for the lot! They're not old, it's just that I bought them and immediately afterwards my printer packed up.
