Winter preparation and long term garaging
De In our region the summer has left the air. Autumn is playing it's fresh windy game, leafes dancing in the streets. A few classic car drivers enjoy the last beautiful Sunny days before their cars will be garaged for at least five months. Winter roads with snow, frost and salt are a bad place to be for our beloved classics. Garaging a classic car for the winter period without proper preparation also not a good idea. Old engine oil contains combustion acids and microscopic dirt which can ruin the seals of the engine. Brake and clutch fluid are hygroscopic and suck water from the air over time, this can make the brake and clutch cylinders rust from the inside, resulting in leakage and costly repairs. Damp air and moisture make bare metal and chrome rust when not properly protected. Preparing and servicing your classic car
before
the winter period can be considered the most important yearly maintenance.
Most owners have their cars serviced in the spring. Is it not better
for the car and more convenient for you to service your classic car before
the winter period? YES! Your classic will remain in top condition and the
car will be ready to enjoy on the first Sunny spring day!
