September 2018
Hello & WELCOME!
So... the vacations are pretty much over, the kids are back in school and I don't know about you, but in my neck of the woods that means two things (and neither include football)!  Cool
For me, it means it's time for some serious sewing (the holidays are coming, YIKES!) and of course the start of our show season!
And since September is officially National Sewing Month we've got some fun stuff lined up for you in this edition of Kat Bytes including a few new products and a nifty discount offer!

So pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee and let's get started! And if you're in the Virginia Beach area, we'd love to meet & greet you Oct 3-6th at the AQS Show.

"Eye Candy" from August 2018
The bags you see below are among those that customers have shared either on our FaceBook business page, our Instagram feed or on our FaceBook Group page. So thanks to ALL who posted their pictures last month! They were ALL great but here's a few of my favorites!

I still get totally inspired when I look at this spectacular Sling Along that Don Distler created for a Florida Law Enforcement officer! The embroidery on the front pocket represents "The Thin Blue Line". Don used faux leather for this bag which undoubtedly added to the degree of sewing difficulty, buy it totally looks like something you'd find in an expensive bag shop. In short, its amazing!
I thought that Joyce Howell chose a particularly interesting background to photograph her beautiful Sling Along against. It really makes her bag POP!

And plaid isn't a common handbag exterior but Virginia Barbaro used it with GREAT success! Virginia says she's surprised at how much she can pack into this Sling Along!
Chris West said she used sateen fabrics to create this sumptuous Flaptastic Bag! This was her 1st project since her rotator cuff surgery & she did a terrific job!

Sharon Tampling's Wrapsody hits ALL the right notes with me! On top of that, her photos were amazing!

Lucinda Craig said she digitized and then embroidered the cat that graces the exterior of her Sling Along! All in all, a very striking bag!

This little Go-Go Compact is nothing if not luscious and Gayla Martell did a superb job fussy-cutting this Peggy Toole fabric to best advantage! It's absolutely to die for.
This amazing duo of Sling Along's was created by Katerina Ioannou for her daughters. She said she was sure glad to have the help of our FaceBook Group since English is her 2nd language!

Maureen Hawkins used beach-type fabrics for her
Sling Along
because she made this bag especially for a dear friend who will be cruising later on this year!
Bernice Ramsey waited to make her Sling Along until she could get this Tula Pink fabric which looks like it was designed for this bag pattern. GREAT job on the fussy-cutting Bernice! This bag is awesome!
Fran Bott used an aboriginal print paired with a very cool iridescent purple contrast for her Sling Along & one thing is for sure... she'll be turning heads wherever she goes with it!

So... in last month's issue we showed you the first two fabrics we're now carrying in our online store!

Even though both of the patterns we used these 2 fabrics for have been released for some time, the response was amazing! It was SO positive that we decided to go ahead this time and give you the opportunity to get hold of some of the yummy fabrics we'll be showcasing in our next new pattern, PRIOR to its release in November (hopefully). (see the small images below)

I hope you find it as delightful as I do! These 3 offerings are part of the "Cat-i-tude" collection by Ann Lauer for Benartex. We're selling each in 1/2 Yard increments which will be PURRFECT for our new pattern! Click HERE to find out more!

In addition to Mark Zuckerberg’s recent announcements recently about cracking down on abuse of the Facebook platform, strengthening their policies, and making it easier for people to revoke apps’ ability to use our data – they're taking additional steps to put people more in control of their privacy. Most of these updates have been in the works for some time, but the events of the last few months underscore their importance.

Cats in the News- Pets Can Experience Grief
Though some have cast doubt on the reality of pet mourning, many animal experts believe that pets experience grief after the death of a person or animal they were close with.
“Pets can grieve to varying degrees when they lose a human or animal companion,” Kate Mornement, an Australian animal behaviorist told HuffPost. “Our understanding of this used to be anecdotal, but now we have scientific evidence of grief in both cats and dogs.” {Click HERE to read more}
