Hello there.

After speaking with some of you about the fundraiser for Portland Story Theater and NestShare at the John Palmer House on Halloween weekend, I am resending this press release with a couple of photos that may work better for your publications.

Portland Story Theater is working together with the owners of the John Palmer House to raise funds for Portland Story Theater, a non-profit that builds community through story, and for NestShare, a non-profit organization that provides rooms for out-of-town cancer patients receiving medical treatment in Portland.

We plan to follow-up with a telephone call to you and look forward to talking with you about this event.

Portland Story Theater was launched in 2004 to bring the urban community together for a unique performance experience, telling tales that stimulate the mind and rouse the heart. We are a grass-roots operation, building awareness and appreciation for narrative. In late 2009, we established ourselves as a not-for-profit business. PST uses a unique collaborative approach to produce shows where people perform stories drawn from real-life experiences. We also offer workshops and 1-on-1 coaching for people who want to learn how to tell stories. Portland Story Theater has been called "raw, revealing, vulnerable," by The Oregonian for our groundbreaking work that "keeps audiences entranced from start to finish."

NestShare grew out of personal experiences with cancer.  The idea is simple.  If you have some space to share, why not share it? The folks at John Palmer house know that the Cancer Journey is not for cowards. They hope to do a little something to make the journey a bit less arduous. John Palmer House has rooms for cancer patients for short stays during radiation and/or chemotherapy treatment. They hope it is a little homier than a motel.

Storyteller Wine Company is a small band of wine pirates holed up in Southwest Portland in the John’s Landing neighborhood. Leading this motley crew is Michael Alberty, ex-political scientist wannabe and a 20-year veteran of coffee and wine retail trench warfare in places like Seattle, Washington and Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Over the past few years Michael discovered that he loves going out and finding great wines that have an interesting story to tell. Storyteller Wine Company has a store in John's Landing (5511-B SW Hood Avenue) that is open Fridays from 4-9PM and Saturdays from 10-7PM; the rest of the week they're scouring the planet looking for interesting wines that we can offer you at more-than-interesting prices. Plus, they ship. Just think of them as your wine clubhouse, but without any hard-to-remember secret handshake.
