Helen Arney News, July 2014

Welcome, new mailing listers! Find this month's TV treats, new live shows and a podcast story below.
On your television set this month
Fun times ahead: I'm in the new series of "Stewart Lee's Alternative Comedy Experience" on Comedy Central. First show is tonight, Tuesday 15 July at 11pm.

I'm in four of the 13 episodes - not sure which ones yet, but with sets from Josie Long, Tony Law, Bridget Christie, Robin Ince, Helen Keen and more across the series, you'll probably want to watch it all on Sky 112 or Virgin 132 in the UK.

If you don't have one of those fancy non-terrestrial TVs, you can start downloading Series 2 from iTunes tomorrow.

The following week, I'm making my three-minute BBC TV debut in Coast - one of my favourite BBC2 programmes. It's a piece about physics, filmed on the UK's tallest rollercoaster in sunny Blackpool last October. Be warned that it features some screaming (but surprisingly little vomiting).

It's going out Tuesday 22 July at 9pm on BBC2, then on iPlayer for a month or more.

Please do tweet or facebook about the shows if you tune in or catch up later. If you take a moment to let @ComedyCentralUK and @CoastTV know what you like, they'll make more shows that you enjoy. Well, that's the theory, anyway...
Work in Progress for Camden Fringe
A new hour of songs and words is on the way, with three tryouts 11-13 August, 9.30pm. Tickets still available, and other great shows are happening in Camden this August, like this, thisthis and this

Or if you're free tomorrow night, there are just a few seats left for "How The Victorians Ruined The World" featuring me and my sister Kat, plus genuine experts in Victorian sex and toilets.
Spoken Nerd at Festivals and in London
A few ludicrously exciting Festival of the Spoken Nerd announcements are coming later this month. Make sure you're on the Nerd mailing list to hear about them first.

In the meantime, some shows:

Storycollider and No Cause for ConCERN
For people without BBC channels, cable TV or a UK postcode, I have new things online including a story about what it was really like to ride that rollercoaster. Get a sneak preview here, before it goes onto the Storycollider website soon. If you're looking for new science-inspired audio treats, subscribe yourself up to their podcast, it's ace.

I also had a smashing - pun intended - time at CERN in Geneva last month. Here's a photo of me with my new silicon-based BFF, ATLAS.

The whole lovely gig was filmed, and will be online here soon.

Oh, and I'm an internet meme now. Basically someone made a gif of Wil Wheeton winking saucily at the camera. I'm there too. On a TV screen. Don't believe me?

Thanks as always for reading all this. If you've made it this far, please do hit "reply" and send me your news! I do like to hear it.
