And just like that, it's December!

Penny Wars is off to a good start. Juniors have jumped to the front in the early returns. We will run this all week long. Please consider sending your pennies in with your student to support Shop With a Cop. All proceeds directly benefit disadvantaged students in our area.

Hand to Hand will be bringing in a pantry for disadvantaged students here at the high school after the first of the year. I can't wait to get it started. We are extremely appreciative of all those who have supported this need. Our goal is to keep kids fed over the weekends and long breaks!

A good article on the need for resilience and the impact of social media on students from Scientific American: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/kids-today-are-being-socialized-to-think-theyre-fragile-snowflakes/ The idea of a "callout culture" is a new idea to me but it is exactly what occurs daily on social media with people of all ages. I often tell the parents of 9th graders that children mimic their parents' behavior online. We can't tell children that it is wrong to bully, hurt, and gossip about others and then turn around and do the same thing as adults on social media. Children read what their parents post and learn from it.
