4th June 2007 Stitchin', Bitchin' and Knittin' in Public

Happy Sunshiney Summertime greetings [YMLP2]

We hope that this newsletter finds you well and that after a wet bank holiday and half term, your soggy knitting is now hanging out to dry in the glorious sunshine. And that you are ready for Saturday the 9th's fabulous Knit Crawl at some of London's most glorious sites (with Rowan and Innocent goodies to give away).

Last week's meeting at our old favourite, the Silver Cross, was a little different from the usual. Our famous Lion Scarf made another appearance in front of the cameras whilst the Lion Ladies spoke to ITV on a new show about the 80s, starting in June.

We also stepped back in time to our favourite bowling lanes in Bloomsbury, where we knitted, bitched, ate chips and listened to the sounds of the 50s and 60s. We also said goodbye to one of our keenest knitters who is returning back to the Southern hemisphere (hopefully to start a S&B Mauritius!)

And now for this week's news...

Stitch and weird air kissing

Stitch and Sticking your Finger in all the Craft Pies

Although knitting is a wondrous thing, many of us want to spread of crafty wings once we have the hang of the sticks and string. Essentially we will end up looking at everything we see and saying those familiar words: “I bet I could make that myself”.

It is a fabulous sentiment but where oh where do you find the ideas and information to get you started on the road to becoming the king or queen of craft?

That is where Crafty Crafty comes in. A fairly new blog site covers more crafts than you can shake a glue stick at daily (with lots of knitting thrown in so you’ll feel at home). One day they’ll be Amigurumi cupcakes peeping out at you, the next they’ll show you how to revamp a comfy but ugly old sofa , the day after that a knitted VW Beetle. It is craft heaven with how tos, crafty news, all kinds of patterns, and contributions from a knitting chick that you might recognise to boot. Thursday is knitting day, but there are plenty of other crafts to inspire you too.

That is all we can squeeze in for this week’s newsletter. There are so many events on for us knitters at the moment, we are spoilt for choice! Knitting in public is what we do best. So let’s show London how it’s done!

Happy Knitting and may the stitch be with you.
