(Isaiah 40:21-31 The Lord gives strength to the weak.)
Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall utterly fall; but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

We return to this beautiful passage again to be reminded that this incredible power and strength is given to those "who WAIT upon the Lord." Do you want the full benefit of having the Eternal God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, as your God? Do you want to receive this strength so that you can soar above all troubles as if you were gliding on eagles' wings? Then "wait upon the Lord."
The Hebrew word that is translated "wait" is one of the stronger expressions of trust. It means more than just believing that God is real. It is more than knowing that He is ABLE to help you. It means to trust fully that He does help you and give you strength. It is to depend completely upon Him and wait for His help and strength, confident that He gives it.
To wait upon the Lord also suggests that, if we don't see His help immediately, to be patient knowing that He will help at just the right time. Most of all, He gives you the positive assurance that He has forgiven all your sins and opened the doors of heaven to you. With that forgiveness we can be happy and content in every circumstance in life knowing that our Savior is with us and we have eternal life with Him.
You have all known believers who possessed this great strength, those who stood up under trials and rejoiced and praised God in the face of hardships. They had such strength of spirit because they waited upon the Lord and knew His deliverance is great. They are great examples of strength and stability for us.
