2 Corinthians 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant -- not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

I BRING YOU GOOD TIDINGS

Is it easier to bring good news or bad news to someone? I've never envied the police officers who have to knock on the door of a home and tell the parents that their child has been killed in a car accident. The officers would much rather be bringing happy, uplifting news.

What a wonderful blessing it is that our ministry as Christians consists of bringing good news and not terrible threats! I think it makes it easier to talk with others about Christ when we remember first and foremost that the message we are bringing them is one of everlasting good. We are showing them the face of the One who gave up His life for them so they can meet God face to face without fear. We don't bring a message that kills them, but a message that brings them forgiveness, peace of mind, and hope for the future. It tells of all the great things their Savior has done for them.

Certainly when we witness to someone, there will be mention made of human sin, the tragedy that drove Christ to the cross. There will be mention of our inability to live up to God's holy standards, but that is not where the conversation will end. For why reveal sin unless there is a solution? That solution is made known by the Spirit who gives life. It is seen by the nations in Christ our Lord, the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. And that is good news to take to anyone's door!
