We're excited to share this "Idea of the Week", submitted by either the MAiZE staff or one of your fellow siteowners. There never seems to be a shortage of ideas and the truth is that some of the best originate with all of you! So, if you ever have an idea you'd like us to pass along to the group, please just send it our way. Also, please remember that we'll be archiving these ideas on the siteowner web site, so that you can go back and view them whenever you like.

Using CornText to Connect with Employees...
This week’s idea shines a light on a less obvious, but very valuable way to utilize your CornText service.  While we've talked a lot about how it can be used as a tool for marketing and interactive games, the truth is it can also be a very useful communication tool.  Communication between you and your staff can sometimes be a tough thing to execute at a moment's notice.  By using CornText, you can email and text message all of your employees at once with the click of a button.

It's as simple as: creating an employee group, having your employees text in, and typing up the message you want to send out. Following are a couple of examples of how fellow farms utilized it this past year:

South Texas Maze, Ken and Laurie Graff

Preston, from the South Texas Maze in Hondo, TX said “we make the decision to close when it’s raining usually about 45 min before we open”.  Using the CornText system, Preston says “it takes me about 3 minutes to communicate to all of our 80 employees whether or not we are closing. It's been a great way to make sure that none of our employees show up when they don't need to”.  To collect the employee phone numbers before they opened, Preston says they hosted an employee game that made it super simple.

Cornbelly’s, Brett and Nikki Herbst

At Cornbelly’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Fest in Utah we used CornText to communicate to 90+ employees this past year through a simple process Logan helped to set up.  On employee orientation night we asked all employees to simultaneously text “emp1” to 91011.  If they did not have texting, then they were instructed to provide their email address instead.  The cell phone numbers were automatically added when they texted in, and the few emails were added manually later.  It was an invaluable tool that we used for rainout days, employee parties, give-aways, scheduling, etc.  It saved us tons of time…eliminating hours on the phone calling everyone.
