Dear Friends,
2020 is off to such a good start, with dances far and wide. Check out the photos below from Deborah's trip to Cuba, and our shared trip to Mexico.
Consider coming for a full week of integrated activities here on The Farm, starting with the March 27-29 Awakening Journey weekend of introspection and transformation. Bernie arrives in time to join us for our weekly dances the following Wednesday, leading into the weekend of Dances April 3-5. On days in between, we'll go hiking on our thousands of acres, make more music, and you can settle in and get to know our community in a deeper way.
Namaste y'all,

The Dances go to Cuba!
![]() In January 2020, Dance leader Grace Marie led the first Dances of Universal Peace Caravan to the island nation of Cuba.
My wife Deborah and two ofther folks from our Tennessee Dance sangha were part of the group. ![]() Gathering in Havana
![]() The Cuba Dance Caravan began in Havana with a guided walking tour through old Havana, followed by a Classic Car Havana Tour and a Salsa lesson. The group also went on overnight trips to other cities in Cuba such as Vinales, Trinidad and Cienfuegos, with stops at beautiful beaches, including the historic Bay of Pigs, so-named because of the ships that delivered pork back during the early Spanish colonization. Of course the Caravan also spent some time each day dancing with Grace.
![]() An organic farm out in the countryside of Vinales.
The group toured the farm and ate lunch there, which Deborah says was one of the best meals of the trip! Deborah had this to say, "Overall I was impressed with the quality of life shared by the people of Cuba. It reminded me very much of other places I have visited throughout Latin America. The food was good, our accommodations clean and comfortable, and everyone was very friendly."
![]() David and Tania from Columbia, SA, Deborah, Grace, and Donna (who traveled with me in Turkey!) Guest Dance Leaders Tania Laisuna Villarreal Chamorro and David Felipe Coral Ramirez, from Columbia, South America, helped bring a deeper connection to the Hispanic culture. They will be guest leaders at Wilderness Camp in Idaho later this summer.
There is already talk of a return trip to Cuba in 2021! Stay tuned!

The dance circle in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, over 70 people!
After Cuba, Deborah and our two other friends from Tennessee joined me at the Dance Camp in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, celebrating its 20th year! The dances are led by Bernie Heideman and Sky Roshay, and they generously invite other dances leaders who are present to lead as well. This was the third year in a row for Deborah and I, and it was nice to be remembered and welcomed as part of the family. We dance on the sand overlooking the beautiful blue of the Carribbean each morning and evening, with afternoons free for other activities, including some great snorkeling on the reef just off shore.
![]() After the evening dances, a bunch of us gather to sing for a couple more hours. There is nice array of top notch musicians, including Helga and her partner Mark from Montreal (left). Helga plays amazing improvized flute and Mark is a jaw dropping professional jazz guitarist, adding some delightful nuance to our melodies.
![]() This year's special guest was Hassan Ravenwolf from St. Louis, who I got to know at the Ozark Camp. He definitely took the music to a new level! I am excited to announce he will be joining us in Tennessee when Bernie comes to The Farm April 3-5!
![]() Puerto Morelos is a sleepy beach town which has kept the condo high-rises away up to now, limiting new construction to 3 stories, but it is unclear how long they can hold out. A new city government is at odds with the local people, who have occupied the town square to block a $19 million dollar fancy pavilion, preferring instead the money be used for something really needed, like a hospital.
![]() Our groups held a dance on the square in solidarity with the people, and many of them joined us in the dance circle.

![]() March 14 & 15 Breema: Embracing the Timeless Moment
An experiential weekend of Body-centered meditation, mindful movement, and nurturing touch, combined with the Breema principles and philosophy with the aim to support a shift from identification with thought, to a taste of our timeless nature. My friend and fellow Farm member Katherine Correa found her calling through a path of self healing after a devasting injury. We have been working together, using her techniques to help people coming in for dances and workshops to establish a grounding center and deeper sense of inter-connecetion. She will be my partner for Awakening Journey.

I hope you'll make the effort to take a firsthand look at The Farm during one of my GreenLife Retreat Weekends, and that it will inspire you to pursue your dreams and find your chosen path!
Speaking Engagements
At the same time, I recognize that I can reach a lot more people if I go outside the community. One of my goals is to speak at colleges and universities where I can talk to young people about Right Livelihood, Service, and Finding Sanity in an Insane World. This is a time when people need to hear an uplifting message of hope.
If you are part of an organization, event, or school (or you just want to learn more about my life's work), I invite you to visit my web site www.douglasstevenson.com, where you'll find information on my lecture topics and how to bring me to speak in your area. Thank you for your interest, and your support. I hope to see you down the road.
