Ranger Report - Oct. 3, 2007

Uncle Ronkle will be taking over the Los Manatees web-site after this report. My eldest son Liam, who has been running this site for many years now, has just begun his higher academic studies and no longer has the time for such work. We thank you Liam for all your time and energy. We welcome Uncle Ronkle who has now volunteerd to get our on-line e-store up and running. Soon you will be able to order any Manatees live show or studio album from our extensive archive library. This will include music by Manatee-related artists as well.

The last thirty days started with Los Manatees playing at Dance & Jeanette's amazing wedding complete with The PeaceWeavers from upstate New York, Manatees co-founder Ray Adkins, and Dance's nephew's band Three-Legged Fox who performed a great opening set.

A week later we were playing the final Fitzwater Station show of the season. We were joined by honorary Manatee members Ted The Fiddler and Roy Bell on pedal steel guitar. Later on another honorary Manatee member, Canadian writer Brian Hassett, arrived and recited Jack Kerouac while the band jammed behind him.

A few days before that, Manatee drummer Jim Cavanaugh played a fund-raiser at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, Manhattan. Jim played for guest host Jim Belushi as well as Franny Beecher the quitarist for Bill Haley & The Comets. The Naked Cowboy also appeared.

Soon, Los Manatees were back at Crazy Carl's with national singer/songwriter Robert "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" Hazard who was playing upstairs with his band which included long-time Manatee friend Fred Di Tomassa. It was Manatees bassist Randy Wagner's birthday and honorary Manatee member Aaron DeAngelo played electric harmonica. Muchos fun. Si.

Sometime during the month Los Manatees producer David Ivory was hanging with Quincy Jones, Phil Ramone, and a bunch of other famous producers up on Capital Hill in Washington, D.C. where they were testifying that the U.S. is the only country in the world that doesn't pay royalties on downloads. David even met Jimmy Jam but Phil Spector couldn't make it.

A few days ago Los Manatees played the Third Annual Jeff Roberts Jeep-A-Thon in Harleysville, PA. It was a beautiful day, a good crowd and as usual as soon as it got dark they exploded over $50,000.00 worth of fireworks over our heads. Uncle Ronkle captured it all on film.

Manatee co-founder Ray Adkins has been busy working on a new solo album. To hear some of his music go to www.songwritersoriginalshowcase.com
