March Memory Verse
Psalm 27:1,
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

- Hindrances To Prayer -
(Matthew 7:7-11)

Matthew 7:7-11 is one of the greatest prayer promises in all the Bible.

The promises of prayer are not experienced because the conditions of prayer are not met.

There are some things that "hinder" or disqualify our prayers from being answered

Notice...
  1. SIN Hinders My Prayers From Being Answered. (Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:1-2)
My first response to unanswered prayer should be a thorough examination of my heart and life and address any sin that is present (see Proverbs 28:13 & 1 John 1:9).
  2. SELFISHNESS Hinders My Prayers From Being Answered (James 4:3)
The motives driving my prayers are very important to God. Even a good prayer with a bad motive will not be answered.
  3. SACRILEGE Hinders My Prayers From Being Answered. (Ezekiel 14:1-5)
An idol is anything that supercedes my devotion to the Lord. If I am going to claim the great prayer promises God has given us, God must be the only thing on the throne of my heart.
  4. INSENSITIVITY/STINGINESS Hinders My Prayers From Being Answered. (Proverbs 21:13)
Unconcern for others will hinder my prayers from being answered.
  5. SQUABBLING Hinders My Prayers From Being Answered. (1 Peter 3:1,7)
Broken fellowship in marriage breaks our fellowship with God.
  6. SKEPTISM Hinders My Prayers From Being Answered. (James 1:5-7)
To doubt God is to imply God is not honest. Doubt and unbelief hinder my prayers from being answered.
One of the most important resources in the Christian life is prayer and we must not allow ANYTHING to hinder our prayers from being answered!

We praise the Lord for a wonderful Wild Game Dinner last week with a great crowd, really good food, tremendous door prizes, and a super message by Pastor Jason Meyers of Hanover, PA with a good number of professions of faith. Our folks worked super hard to make this meeting a success.

Next on the calendar is the MEN'S STEAK-OUT dinner on Saturday, March 25 here at the church. Dr. Dan Hummel will be speaking. A delicious steak dinner with baked potatoes, Bushes baked beans and dessert is on the menu. We're asking for a $10.00 donation to help cover the costs. Invite a friend to join you and pray for God's blessings on this endeavor to reach men with the Gospel.

Following the Steak-Out, we kick off our SPRING REVIVAL with Dr. Dan Hummel (March 26-29). We are praying for a genuine revival in our hearts, home, and church. Please join us for this great meeting.

This Sunday I'm preaching from Mark 12, "Terrible Tenants" and then in the evening from Ecclesiastes, "A Good Thing For Man To Do!"

Please join us this Sunday and bring your Bible and a friend! If your not in the area, please pray earnestly with us for God's blessing to be upon MLIBC.

Sincerely, your friend,
