Ash Wednesday
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF BOLDLY APPROACHING GOD'S THRONE OF GRACE
It doesn't seem that we usually talk about boldness when it comes to Christianity, but there are many times when we are to be bold and are to have confidence.
One of them is when we speak to our heavenly Father. We are told that Jesus, our great High Priest cleared the way. He made each one of us a priest before God which grants us access to His throne. You may approach Him as one cleansed in the blood of Christ, one who has been declared not guilty, and named as a child of God. The Lord's Prayer gives examples of the great things that we can ask for. There are no limitations as to what we may ask of God because there are no limitations to what He can do.
What an advantage that when we talk to Jesus we have somebody who can sympathize with our weaknesses! You might think at times that there is nobody on earth who knows how you feel. And you may be right. There are certain areas that we can't understand about each other. We can't get into another person's head. Maybe we haven't had similar experiences and can't know what a hard time somebody's going through. But Jesus knows. Jesus can sympathize with your temptations. You have available to you One who was attacked from every angle, and you can talk to Him. You can pour out your heart to Him and know that He not only will listen, but He can help.
When you come to the Lord in your time of need, you're told that you will find mercy and grace. Mercy could be defined as compassion. It's not just feeling pity. It is acting on that feeling and helping. Sometimes our family and friends and even our spouses will run out of compassion for us. Yet your Lord never runs out. He will supply you with what you need.
