On Thursday, May 20, 2010, Mascaro Construction presented New Hope for Neighborhood Renewal's 2nd Annual "A Sweet Night on the North Side". This delicious evening included sweet music provided by Brian Weaver, guitarist, Rick Gallagher, jazz pianist, James and Amy Ziegler, and the headliner, The Old School Band. Our Honorary Chairpersons were Jeff Hartings, Pro Bowl Center and member of the 2006 Super Bowl Champion Steelers, and his lovely wife Rebecca. The evening concluded with delicious desserts in the lobby provided by Vanilla, Priory Fine Pastries, Bistro to Go, Fudgie Wudgie and many others. The Cafe' 'n Creamery, the social enterprise of New Hope for Neighborhood Renewal, provided gelato (Italian ice cream) on the patio. The funds raised will benefit the S.T.E.P Program (Students Trained Equipped and Prepared for life after high school). The S.T.E.P. Program includes resume writing, interview skills, goal setting, and work ethic as well a training component at the Cafe' 'n Creamery where they learned to serve gelato and make specialty coffee drinks.
