Symposium: Across The Board:'Institutional Building'

Ghanaian directors of emerging art spaces like FCA, Chale Wote Festival and artists had the opportunity to share ideas with their peers from Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, Algeria, Senegal and Nigeria at the symposium.
Programme was sponsored by the Guaranty Trust Bank plc with a collaboration by the Tate Modern with Nubuke Foundation, Dei Centre and Art in Social Structures.
By the way- Guaranty Trust has a growing collection of works from Ghanaian artists!
 

   

  
Gadi Ramadhani, a founder and director of KokoTEN art cafe in Dar es Salaam is also a printmaker and artist. He is visiting from Tanzania and held a 2 day printmaking workshop with students from Ghanatta Art School and other practising artists in Accra. 
  
  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Gadi will be sharing his experiences on independence from the perspective of a Tanzanian whose country's independence struggles and development were supported by Ghana's first president.
      
 
 
                                         
 
 
APAM.  s t a g i n g is a trans-disciplinary laboratory on staging in the widest sense: being on stage and working on stage, staging a space and designing a stage.
 
A team of seven students of the [applied] Foreign Affairs lab of the Institute of Architecture of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, together with students of the Lab dC of the School of Performing Arts of the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, have been investigating stages and staging(s). 
Their ideas were shared with the general public at Nubuke Foundation on 2 March.

Bernard Akoi-Jackson started off the month long,We are Africa! programme with his performance- 'Walking Gold'
This took place on 3 March. The walk started on Liberation Road from the new Ministry of Foreign Affairs building and ending at the State House.
 
  
[A multi disciplinary collaborative, exhibitions, performances, workshops, panel discussions and food fest]
 
We are celebrating the 56th aniversary of Ghana's independence with an exhibition which brings together eight Contemporary Ghanaian artists who will explore the meaning of Ghana's independence from the perspective of other African countries.
There will be performances, installations, talks and art workshops during the month of March.
Look out for events in the city throughout the month of March.
Don't miss the food fest. Sample foods of Africa like akple,ugali, gari, atseke, yaka yake,abolo,couscous on 6 March 2013.

Nubuke Foundation joins Raw Material Company-Dakar,Carpe Diem- Segou,Doua'lart, Douala and CCA-Lagos in the Marker Fair-the curated stands at Art Dubai 2013.
This year's theme looks at 'Cities in Transition' and explores the changing nature of cities through the works of artists.
The Marker concept is being curated by Bisi Silva, director of CCA, Lagos.
                           
 

 
TALK PARTY
Eha-Lakasa- Ghana Poetry Group is 5 years in 2013.
 
This community of poets promote and encourages free forms of self expression on the genre.
Slam poets, performance artists, theatre groups, local musicians,
and the general public is invited.
