Dear Fiber Friends,
April showers bring May flowers...and yarn events! We are kicking off the season this Saturday as we celebrate Local Yarn Store day. We will be featuring exclusive colorways, kits, and patterns (think Emma's yarns, Mad Tosh, and Malabrigo) just for this special day so come down and see what we have for you. We will also be revealing the first four colorways of the 2023 Knitted Wit National Parks yarns. If that amount of excitement doesn't have you in a tizzy then guess what?? May means the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival is coming! This year's festival will be May 20 & 21. We will be there again this year in our usual spot looking forward to seeing your bright and beautiful faces.

Local Yarn Store day is this week- Saturday, April 29th. We have a few special yarns that we will be putting out in the shop for that day. The first is a beautiful colorway from Madeline Tosh dyed especially for Local Yarn Shop day, Bonaire, which we have in the Tosh Sock (100% Superwash merino, 395 yards per 100g) along with a code for a free download of Taylor Harris' Vinea Scarf (below, left.) |
And of course, we will have codes for Casapinka's 2023 LYS Day shawl. This year's shawl, Kitation, uses two skiens of fingering-weight yarn (like those wonderful Emma's kits) and is a fun knit perfect for vacation.
|
We will also have free patterns for several favorite lines of yarn we carry including Malabrigo (above,) Blue Sky, and Plymouth. So many exciting things, we are going to have to let some be a surprise. Follow along on FB and Instagram for more updates thoughout the day on Saturday. |
It's our favorite time of the year- National Parks Yarn season!! Join us all summer long as we continue our journey through the federally-protected natural areas of the USA with Knitted Wit!!
In 2023, they are once again focusing on National Historic Parks, Monuments, Lakeshores, and Historic Sites, and once again they’ll be breaking the travels down into 4 categories: Indigenous Culture Sites, Natural History - Eastern USA, Natural History - Western USA, and Sites honoring Human Rights Leaders/Notable People.
Each month, from May – August, we'll get 4 brand-new colorways that are ONLY offered to LYS participants. One colorway will be from each of the categories listed above. |
Normally, we aren't allowed to sell or post the colorways until the first of the month, but to celebrate LYS Day they gave us permission to put them out on Saturday. Want to see the colors? check our Facebook or Instagram on Saturday morning. |
You know a yarn is good when all the people who work at the shop are planning what to make out of it. That is the case with Saxony by Juniper Moon. Saxony is a whopping 75% cashmere mixed with 25% superfine merino. It has 120 yards per 50g ball and knits up as an aran or chunky weight, lovely on US size 8-10.5. Sarah has already used it to knit up the Towards North Hat and Lambing Mitts, both one skein projects. It would also be great in these patterns: Felix Pullover, Felix Cardigan, and Brigandine. |
More more more! We have more point protectors! More Favour Valley wood buttons and an absolutely excessive amount of pom-poms! |
ReBelle Knit/Crochet Alongs |
For those preparing for the warmer months, we are starting a Sweet Summer Top Knit/Crochet along from the middle of April until the end of May. This one has a little less structure than the last shawl because each person will pick their own pattern that falls in the category of summer top and we will knit/crochet them together.
Robyn created a Ravelry bundle here with several pattern ideas if you need some help finding the perfect pattern. She is also available if you need help finding a pattern for a particular yarn.

Featured Upcoming Classes |
Mitred Square Class
Mitered square blankets have been around for years, but recently they made a huge resurgence in the knitting community via the Cozy Memories Blanket (or any one of the dozens of variations) where you use your yarn scraps to make a blanket over the course of several years. In this class, Susan will teach you the basic mitered square technique as well as a few variations. You will also learn how to pick up stitches to join squares without seaming. If you can knit garter stitch, you can do this!!
1 session- Saturday 6/3, 10am-12pm. $20

Contour Shawl
Looking for a stunning accessory to throw on anytime you need something cozy with a lot of style? Join Raellyn for a two part class featuring the Contour Shawl, a deceptively simple asymmetrical shawl that lays securely on your shoulders as it curls around and hugs your neck. This shawl can be made beautifully with variegated yarns just using one colorway, but really shows off its style when using two (or more!) colors to flaunt the strong texture and ridge created in the easily memorizable two row pattern.
If you’re an adventurous beginner with basic crochet skills, or just interested in trying something new, join us for a fun class. You’ll learn how to build a shawl from the center top outward, carry up and change colors in alternating rows, and how to block awkwardly shaped projects.
This project uses two skeins of fingering weight yarn and a US size 7/4.5mm crochet hook.
2 classes - Tuesdays, May 2 & 16, 6pm-8pm
