Farm Fresh News - April 2016

Hi Friends,
In many ways, my recent trip to Costa Rica was a vision quest.
It opened up doors to new places and possibilities, and the chance to chart a new direction.

My wife Deborah and I are beginning a collaboration with Ibu Robin Lim, the 2011 CNN Hero of the Year for her work in midwifery, and her efforts to raise awareness about the sanctity of birth.

Deborah and I are traveling to Bali to visit with Robin at her clinic Bumi Sehat, where we will begin work on a new project called Awakening Family.

It is our collective belief that one way to heal our planet and build a world of peace, is by starting at the foundation, how we as a society care for new mothers and usher new life into this world.

Midwives hold a seed of wisdom that we are seeking to plant, grow, and spread. It is about fostering the conscious awakening in each of us to value the things that are truly most important to our survival, the nurturing of the family, and its extension...community.

We will begin with Awakening Birth, a new web site, newsletter, podcast, and more. I will keep you posted as we move forward.

Peace,
Douglas

Ibu Robin Lim and Bumi Sehat

Robin Lim ("Mother Robin," or "Ibu Robin") is a midwife and founder of Yayasan Bumi Sehat (Healthy Mother Earth Foundation) health clinics, which offer free prenatal care, birthing services and medical aid to anyone who needs it.
The Mission of Bumi Sehat
Bumi Sehat means Healthy Earth Mother. We believe that access to quality healthcare and to kind, hygienic, culturally appropriate childbirth is a human right. We believe that each individual is an essential societal component of peace. By caring for the smallest citizens of Earth - babies at birth - we are building peace, one mother, one child, one family at a time.
Deborah and I are so excited to be working with Robin. Stay tuned for pictures from our travels and updates on our work with Awakening Family.
