We are pleased to welcome photojournalist and San Francisco resident Aileen Ah-Tye, who met M.F.K. Fisher on assignment and shares the food writer's affinity for France.
Inspired by the quality of Fisher's writing, Ah-Tye decided to look for her Provence. In a letter to Fisher, Ah-Tye reports back from Marseille: "The eels and the prickly rascasse were exotique to my San Francisco eyes, the smells as pungent as you can get, and...miracle of all miracles...the men and women on the docks were exactly as you described them."
Thus, began a collaboration that illustrates Fisher's passion for life, and all its sensual pleasures that nourish the soul.

In 1937, a teacher on the island of Maui challenged a group of sugar plantation kids to swim upstream against the current of their circumstance. Led by an ordinary man whose swimming ability did not extend beyond treading water, the Japanese American children went from swimming in filthy irrigation ditches to becoming Olympians.
