Hello Firstname

Wednesday 29 March
Next Wednesday is the annual presentation of the Bristol Salon of Photography. This evening is the culmination of twelve months' work to bring together some of the best images in the world. This year we saw an entry of over 10,000 images from just over 1,000 photographers from 61 different countries, so the variety of work is huge. Andrew Marker and his team have been slaving away over a hot monitor to put together the best of the acceptances to create this year's show. Having seen a preview of the show, I can say that you are in for an audio and visual treat - a show not to be missed!

Closing Date
Next Wednesday is also the closing date for Print Competition Round 4 - an evening which reveals the overall winner of the Print Competition.
The judge for the night will be Ken Holland ARPS DPAGB from Teignmouth. To see more about Ken, visit his website at www.lowenna.co.uk

Subscription Fees
The number of enquiries about paying membership subscriptions into the bank has been increasing recently and although this isn't practical, it has been agreed to accept payments into the Salon PayPal account, with the monies then being transferred to the BPS account.

The following points should be noted:
  1. This is purely voluntary and can be changed at any time (although it is hoped that a large number of members will agree). You can, of course, continue to pay by cheque or cash if you wish.
  2. You do NOT need a PayPal account, as any current debit/credit card can be used in the same way as any internet payments are made. There are many members who enter Salons and who use these methods already.
  3. As PayPal charge a small fee, it is proposed to add a flat rate of between 50p and £2 to each of the rates from £16 to £102.
  4. Shortly before the subscription becomes due, an invoice will be emailed from PayPal, which includes a 'View and Pay now' button. This leads directly to the online invoice, where payment can be made via a PayPal account or other current card.
  5. A receipt will automatically be emailed, showing a transaction number.
  6. On a weekly basis, monies received will be transferred to the bank account.
  7. This system can also be used for Studio/Clubroom bookings and the BPS Photography Course payments.
If you have any questions about this, please contact me; it would also be helpful if you would let me know whether you would like to take advantage of this convenient way of paying your subscription.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Items For Sale
If you have something photographic that you want to sell, let me have the details and I will circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.
