Dear MACRO Members,

I hope that all of you have had some time to relax after the end of the semester, and that now you've found a renewed energy to submit a poster session for our workshop. We still have a few slots open on the session. Session submissions are due by June 1, 2006. Please send your submissions via email to jhenke@dcs.wisc.edu and I'll send a workshop travel packet out to you right away. Please include your home address in your email message so that I can send the packet directly to you.

If you've been meaning to register for the workshop, and your desk looks like mine, and your workshop flyer is sitting in amongst various other papers, take a minute or two to get your registration in. We still have a limited amount of travel money available so register soon!

Here are just a few session highlights:

"On the Leading Edge: Introducing, Returning to, and Playing Up the Leading Tone"
John Check, Central Missouri State University

"MACRO MUSCLE: The power and clarity of macro analysis as shown in selected passages from the orchestral repertoire"
Daniel Sommerville, Wheaton College

"Analyzing Abstract Music of the Early Seventeenth Century"
Candace Bailey, NCCU

"Accomplish brief and unique harmonizations of familiar tunes within specified guidelines for adventuresome results via Schoenberg's Chart of Regions"
Nancy Van Brunt, UW Waukesha

Add a little Mozart analyzed and performed by Laroy Borchert from NMSU, our composer competition winner Derek Keller, and a few other surprises and it promises to be a wonderful experience for all!

I hope all of you have a wonderful and productive summer!
