Today bob hund is releasing their cover of "I Wanna Be Your Dog” by The Stooges that they performed at the Polar Music Prize. In Swedish, in their version it is called "Din hund".

Known for their quirky, kinetic sound, bob hund are one of the biggest indie rock acts in Sweden. Emerging in the early '90s, they built a reputation for being frantic and intens live, endearing qualities that earned them a large following. The band achieved widespread fame with their sophomore album, 1996's Omslag: Martin Kann, which peaked at number 11 on the Swedish charts and won the award at the Swedish Grammy's. Since then they have remained popular and the crowed is growing by every chord.

bob hund had the honor of performing "I Wanna Be Your Dog" at the Polar Music Prize cermony when Iggy Pop was awarded. In Swedish in their version it is called "Din hund”. And here it is in a studio version.

Since there are probably a couple of hundred exactly the same cover versions of the song, they already decided to make a little musical Easter egg, so that Iggy would not sit and fall asleep at the award ceremony.

In the egg they have put some of Iggy's early influences. They have tuned and prepared a grand piano according to John Cage's special instructions and stressed the piano strings with a lot of bolts and screws in the "right place". The sound sounds a bit like a mixture of scrap metal and the folk music style Gamelan from Bali.

They have put down a hefty dose of influences from Bo Diddley, who in the song "Pretty Thing", for example, has both a turn and a way of playing guitar riffs that Stooges served raw on his first album. It is clearly heard in their songs "1969" and "Little Doll" etc.

They have also ground down distorted fragments of another old garage rock smoker, "5 Years Ahead Of My Time" with Third Bardo, which the Swedish garage rock band The Nomads also did a cover of. A track that Iggy is guaranteed to hear at parties that evoked real party memory gaps both in the late 60's and 80’s.

Bob Hund will take this single for a long summer tour, first as residents in Helsingborgs H22 and the the whole summer on the famous Kalas tour.
