Hello Firstname

Wednesday 14 August
Next Wednesday we have a recorded presentation of the 2019 NEMPF annual print and projected image competition. This is a presentation we have had many times before and is one of the most professionally put together recorded presentations that we have had. NEMPF is similar to the WCPF and is the North & East Midland Photographic Federation; they hold an annual exhibition with entries from all the clubs in their federation. The accepted images are then put together as an audio-visual presentation with musical background and a commentary by Ashley Franklyn; Ashley is an ex BBC Radio presenter which provides the evening with an entertaining and very professional commentary.

DI Group
All members are welcome to the DIG meeting next Monday, 12 Aug. It is a good opportunity to show your work for comments, suggestions or praise from your fellow members. With the new season of club competitions starting soon it is time to build up your stock of images and DIG meetings are an ideal place to get feedback and constructive criticism on your potential competition images. I had a very interesting conversation with one member about how judges see and interpret, sometimes misunderstand our images. At some future meeting I hope to develop that into an evening on that theme. Please bring your images either as prints or on a memory stick as JPG files ( sRGB colour space, any size) in a folder of your name.

RPS Council - Upcoming Elections
I have received the following from Eddy Lane, the contents of which are self explanatory:

To Club Members that are also members of the Royal Photographic Society

Earlier this year the RPS made a substantial investment in its impressive new headquarters at Paintworks in Bristol. The Society is at a crucial stage of its development. The RPS Council Elections have just opened and all RPS members should have received their voting papers

Janet Haines ARPS DPAGB EFIAP is standing for election as an Ordinary Member of Council - Janet is a member of Dorchester CC. I am also standing and I belong to Swindon Photographic Society and Club Nonpareil. Janet and I have discussed our common interests and we will be supporting each other during the voting period

If you decide to vote, you can review all the Candidate Statements and vote for up to four of the eleven nominations for these positions. Council Election voting will close at noon on Monday 23 September 2019

Friday 16 August Ed Cloutman EFIAP, Hon FWPF
Ed (who is the Judges' Secretary for the Welsh Photographic Federation) will talk about preparing your images to give judges as little to complain about as possible. He will also be giving his presentation about the sky at night.

Photography Course
There are still spaces left on the annual photography course, could you please spread the word about the course, both by word of mouth and by social media. Below is a picture advertising the course which you might like to download by clicking on the picture and include in your Facebook (other social media sites are available) page. Alternatively, you could download and print the poster and display it in places local to you. It's worth mentioning that the course fee also includes a year's membership of the Society.

Please remember, that the low cost of your BPS subscription can only remain that way for as long as we continue to get a good attendance (and therefore income) on the course. We would ask, therefore, that as many members as possible help to publicise the course.
