RANGER REPORT & 9/11/2006

"I know nothing more fatal than the abuse or neglect of a divine gift, and I have no sympathy with those who trifle with it."
– Mendelssohn

Ah the bittersweet end of another summer…Back to school, back to the drawing board…

You might have noticed a new face onstage with Los Manatees lately. His name is Roy Bell and he plays pedal steel guitar, keyboards, fiddle, mandolin, and banjo (Roy won a Maryland banjo-picking contest three years in a row). Roy is another Virgo and we hope to see more of him in the future.

Speaking of recording, Los Manatees was in producer David Ivory's Dylanava Studios last week working hard on their long-awaited studio album, "Go Like This". Release date is December of this year…

Also in recording news, work continues on the new Ranger Will solo album at Karl Frick's Lakestone Studio. We'll be laying on some Roy Bell pedal steel this week…

Joining the Los Manatees ever-growing drummer roster is Mr. Jim Cavanaugh. Jim played with a popular regional band in the 90's called "Wanderlust". They had a radio hit with the song, "I Walked". Jim seems to have no serious health issues, no serious financial issues, and no serious transportation issues.

This Sunday Los Manatees will be playing a double-header in the Phoenixville, PA area. The first show is from 2:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon at Lock 60 on the Schuylkill Canal. It is part of the Schuylkill Canal Association Open House & Music Fest. To learn more go to www.schuylkillcanal.com . After that first show we'll stroll a couple of miles down the canal to the Fitzwater Station where we will be playing our final Fitzwater show of the season. It's no secret that this is one of our favorite summer gigs. Feel free to bring the kids, the dogs, the blankets, and the good vibrations.

Lastly but surely not leastly: This Thursday, Sept. 14, at Finn McCools, it's Los Manatees' bassist/vocalist Captain Randy Wagner's birthday (another Virgo)! Come on out and help Randy celebrate his big day. (Hint: he digs rhumba boxes)

Well that's about all for now dear friends. Stay strong and be excellent to one another.
If I don't see you in the future, I'll see you in the pasture.
