THE STARS IN THE SKY

The stars in the sky -- something to remember on a warm summer evening.

It is a good thing to occasionally stop and "smell the roses." We lead such busy lives, few are the moments to stop and appreciate the little things. Today we appreciate the stars in the sky.

I've always loved a campfire. I love the warmth on a crisp evening and there is something mesmerizing about the flames. When I look away from the fire, I'm often drawn to those points of fire in the evening sky.

If you live outside the lights of the city then you know that number of stars is innumerable. When we look at the many stars in the sky it can serve to make us feel insignificant. "I'm just a single person on a planet of billions, surrounded by galaxies filled with countless stars."

Don't feel insignificant. Remember that the Creator who placed those stars in the sky knows every hair on your head. He knows you better than YOU know you (Yikes, THAT is a scary thought). Still, even though He knows everything about you, still He loves you with an everlasting love. He sent His greatest treasure, His Son, to suffer and die for YOU, to make YOU His dear child and heir. So consider His amazing love and how He values you (Luke 12:6-7):

"Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows."

Christ has revealed His love for you -- to you. He would have us reflect His love for us in our love for others, including even our enemies. So may the same Jesus cause us to shine forth as lights in this world, reflecting Christ's love in our lives! Is there someone that you know who doesn't know the tremendous price tag Christ's love has placed on them? Tell them!
