2ND ANNUAL CALIFORNIA BOOKSTORE DAY

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We are thrilled to be celebrating the 2nd Annual California Bookstore Day, honoring all that independent bookstores have to offer! We will have a selection of exclusive, limited edition items available ONLY on Saturday, May 2 - on a first-come, first-served basis. These include a limited edition, signed infographic print of popular books and authors from David McCandless, author of Knowledge is Beautiful and The Visual Miscellaneum, and copies of Days Like This: Good Writers on Bad Luck, Bum Deals, and Other Torments featuring Anne Lamott, James Patterson, Mary Roach, and others.
Throughout the day, we will have special guests in the courtyard, including S.G. Browne (Less Than Hero), Joseph Sutton (San Francisco Giants: A Fan's Journal), and C.W. Gortner (Mademoiselle Chanel). At 12:00 noon, we will host a meeting of the Northern California Chapter of Sisters in Crime, featuring guest speaker Adam Plantinga, author of 400 Things Cops Know. Join the gathering, and spot a few of your favorite mystery writers!
The day culminates in a special reading with David Talbot, Salon founder and author of the bestselling Season of the Witch, who will discuss and sign copies of his book (inside the store) at 7 p.m.
Another great reason to visit the store: We will be holding a RAFFLE, featuring all sorts of great prizes, including two sets of signed copies of Veronica Roth's Divergent series! California Bookstore Day, which has expanded to include independent bookstores all over the country, recognizes that independent bookstores are not just stores, they’re community centers and local anchors run by passionate readers. In today's digital world, bookstores are not a dying anachronism, but living, breathing organisms that continue to grow and expand.
