Dear Dutch Learner,
I started this newsletter in the beginning of
March, when I was away for a project in a castle in Baarlo.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have
internet for a week, and when I finally did, it turned out that all the
lessons I wanted to advertised had filled up already…
So please find part of my “old” letter below and
new courses + a bonus super deal
for those who where too late signing up for one of the courses. I updated
the schedule, so there is still room for all courses advertised in here (at
least right now ;-)
I arrived safely at the castle in Baarlo (Limburg) where
I will teach a journalists exchange
for the 15th year. It is wonderful here with all this snow…
The project will last for 2 weeks. During the
first week, the journalists will be in a theatre play about the Dutch painter Vermeer, who allegedly has
stayed in this castle as well ;-) Today, they have found a “real” letter from
him!
Next week, the theme for them will be “journalism”
(of course). After this course, the participants will work for the Dutch
television, newspaper or radio for two months.
Would you like to take part in a theme based immersion
course as well? I have several themes on the shelf (flight
attendants, dentists, in love/living with a Dutchie,
au pair, journalists, getting a job, doing business, men vs women, how spiritual are you? Walk through Holland and more…) but
you can also request your own theme.
Well, luckily for us, after I wrote this story,
the weather changed and we could do some of our activities outside in the sun:
It was a great project, but it is also good to be back home, where my new
trainee Lola was waiting for me. She is a Russian teacher; she used to
teach Russian literature at a Russian university. Now she would like to
start teaching Russian to Dutch or English speaking people. Till July, I
will be her trainer. Her Dutch is quite good, so we decided that she would
teach some Dutch conversation
classes filled with short conversation activities, so she can get some feedback from the participants.
So, here is the
deal (not advertised on my site, only for the loyal readers of this newsletter who have read this far ;-): Lola
will teach 2 conversation lessons next
week, supervised by me. She will use the same lesson plan in both
lessons (so not as tailored as my usual classes), but you are welcome to
join both lessons if you wish. We are looking for Dutch students who know the basics of Dutch, but can’t
speak it with confidence:
March 25th / 28th
14:00 – 15:30
At Learn Dutch Fast in Bussum
€15,- per session

Of course, Lola will also be available for those
of you who want to Learn Russian!
I have to wrap up now, work is waiting ;-)
Met vriendelijke groet,
Sylvia
P.S. There is only one
more day available for 1 person for the exam training …
