Luke 20:17-18 The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls it will grind to powder.

A SURE THING: JESUS IS THE DIVIDING LINE BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL

There is no such thing as a neutral view of Jesus. You either build on Him as the chief cornerstone, or you will be crushed by Him. You cannot dismiss Him as insignificant because He is the determining factor in salvation.

Many have stumbled over Christ. They have learned about Him, but find something lacking in Him. Perhaps the thought is that He does not have enough pizzazz or power. The thought could be that He is simply a good teacher, an example for morality, or even some sort of mythical figure. Others think that He is weak, and that they can stand up to Him and find a way around His judgment. Not true. It is a sure thing that if you do not build on the Rock that is Christ, that same Rock will crush you.

We give thanks that the power of the Spirit called us by the Gospel and led us to trust in Jesus as our Savior. As heirs of the heavenly Father we have nothing to fear on the Last Day. Though the Lord could crush us, we are confident that He would do no such thing to His believing children.

While people change and opinions change, what a relief to know that there are things we can count on. Even though one of those sure things is our resistance to God, thankfully the power and love of God have proven to be stronger. You can count on that continuing.

Christ is our Cornerstone,
On Him alone we build;
With His true saints alone
The courts of heav'n are filled.
On His great love Our hopes we place
Of present grace And joys above.
