Acts 22:10 "What shall I do, Lord?" I asked. "Get up," the Lord said, "and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do."
OUR LONG RANGE PLANS
Outside of Damascus, suddenly Paul had realized that Jesus was not some religious blow-hard who had made big predictions and then died. He was alive and talking to Paul. He must have risen as He had promised. It wasn't something that His disciples had faked! He was Himself the Lord of Glory, and His glory alone was enough to send His fiercest enemy reeling to ground, blind and humbled.
Paul: "What shall I do, Lord?"
And the answer of Jesus was remarkable for its simplicity! "Get up. Go into the city. There you will be told..." The Lord would lead His renowned apostle in the same way that He had dealt with so many others. What mighty task did He give to the ten lepers? "Go show yourselves to the priests." Similarly with others: fill the jars with water; take up your bed; go catch a fish; go back home.
And isn't this the way that He also leads you and me: one step at a time? He does not tell us what lies five years down the road for us. He simply says, "I will be with you." He teaches us to pray for our bread daily, and morning by morning to look to Him from whom all blessings flow.
But if He is with us, then all things will work together for our good, then we will rise from our graves at His call! With such a vision of the future in Christ, we can rise and approach the tasks of the day. To this may Jesus help us.
