Barack Obama being elected as our next president is big and exciting.  If you've had the time to watch the analysis and follow the news leaks on his cabinet choices, the hope and optimism is coming to fruition. It's going to fun.  But it didn't happen without a LOT of people being involved in this campaign. Like Poornima and Sudheer Apte. Read Poornima Apte's essay on WHAT CANVASSING TAUGHT ME.

There are two things that are throwing me off about Thanksgiving this year. It being November 24th, it logically seems that Thanksgiving should be now or having just passed. I have this feeling of having missed the holiday. It doesn't help that I'm here in Tucson, AZ and nothing about my environment naturally says it is turkey dinner and pumpkin pie season. I think I'd be a lot more homesick if I wasn't fighting this disorientation.

Nevertheless, Thanksgiving means its time to buckle down and get holiday shopping done. Personally, I don't believe in spending a lot of money on the holidays -- I tend to spend all year and seem not to need a special holiday to inspire me.  On the other hand it is traditional to give something.  And, I do like the nieces and nephews to think positively of me, so I will be putting thought into the special gifts again. While I do this, I'll put together a Holiday store to share my ideas and will add a link to the home page, so please if it you get stuck, look for it this weekend.

Meanwhile, if you plan to buy anything from Amazon.com, please visit MostlyFiction.com first and click on any link to amazon -- then MostlyFiction should get credit for your purchases.  It's an easy way to support this site. THANK YOU!  If you are shopping online, remember to leave enough time to ship ground. Late Thanksgiving means less time for us procrastinators!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday -- hope it is a long, relaxing weekend for you --

Happy Reading!
