Dear Neighbor,

Spring has finally sprung 🌺 and here are your updates for the month.🌸
Major Upgrades Coming to Hoboken’s Hockey Rink
In great recreational news, the City announced a partnership with the New Jersey Devils that had been in the works for months, enhancing the city's roller hockey rink and programming at the Multi-Service Center. This includes:
  • Removal and disposal of the outdated boarding system.
  • Patching and leveling the rink surface to ensure optimal playing conditions.
  • Installing new rink flooring to enhance performance and safety.
This $230,000 commitment from the NHL includes up to $10,000 for part-time coaches and staff to develop diverse rink programming, including ball hockey clinics, initiatives to promote girls' hockey, adult leagues, and gameplay opportunities for kids and adults. Thanks to the head of Hoboken’s Recreation Department, Jessica Lezcano, for coordinating with the Devils to facilitate this grant opportunity.
Thank you, NJ Devils!

🥍 Honoring Sean Sergeant 🥍
At our March 20 Council meeting, we honored Sean Sergeant, founder of the Hoboken Lacrosse program. I presented Sean with a proclamation from Mayor Bhalla, recognizing Sean's extraordinary contributions to our community. 🥍
Sean, who played lacrosse for Villanova, was joined by several Hoboken Lacrosse coaches who, together, have dedicated countless hours volunteering for our community, creating a special lacrosse program for Hoboken’s children. 🥍
Thank you, Sean
