MEDIA RELEASE – ROB STOKES
Renowned Climate Scientist to give public lecture at Coastal Environment Centre
Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes is hosting a community forum on the impacts of climate change on coastal areas with renowned climate scientist Dr Ben McNeil.

Dr McNeil, a Senior Research Fellow at the University of NSW, is one of Australia’s leading climate change experts and will discuss the latest research into the impacts of climate change on our coast.  Also in attendance will be Professor Bruce Thom, President of the Australian Coastal Society, and former Chair of the NSW Coastal Council.

“Recent events like the dust storms that blanketed Sydney and the tsunami in the Pacific demonstrate that our climate is constantly changing, and has a massive impact on our lives”, Rob Stokes said today.

“Dr McNeil’s presentation will provide a valuable scientific insight into how a changing climate might affect us on the northern beaches.

“Whatever your views on our changing climate – we will all have to deal with the consequences.  The more information we have – the better equipped we will be.

“The northern beaches literally forms part of the frontline in the debate over climate change. It is important that we have a part in debating causes, consequences and solutions.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to hear first hand from some of Australia’s leading climate experts.

“The forum is free of charge and is being held at the Coastal Environment Centre in Narrabeen on Wednesday, 7 October at 7pm.

“I’d encourage all interested residents to come along to what will be a fascinating evening”, Rob Stokes concluded

You Asked..
Dear islanders
I am looking for any items of furniture that people may not be needing any longer. Such as sofa, sofa chairs, indoor and outdoor table and chairs, coffee table, wardrobes, etc. I am setting up a house on the island from 2 November and only have beds at the moment. I would be grateful for anything you no longer use.
