JR Johansen Art Exhibit at Ogden Valley Branch Library through February 1, 2010 - Don't miss it!
It is a public awareness exhibit that features 15 children who have struggled with life threatening diseases.  Ten of the fifteen have passed away (three of the ten who have passed away are from our Ogden Valley; Brandi Thompson, Elisabeth Hillstrom, and Kimberly Grow).

We were honored to have so many people show up at the Open House on the 23rd of December.  Every family of every child was there with the exception of one family from California who could not make it because of weather.

Each portrait has a biography of the child and is quite  touching.  There are also some valley and town residence on display there in addition to the 15 children; Lucille Bailey, Tyrel Parkinson, Brittan Parkinson, and Rhonda Anderson.

Valley School Likely To Be Demolished Soon
Demolition could start as soon as February 1st...

In an effort to secure the Valley School property, the town was able to bring four parties together in a proposed five party land swap, but we could not bring in the last key party - Weber School District.  The districts due diligence uncovered some perceived flaws with the land that was being proposed for a trade.

Thanks to Jeff Holt for his countless hours and efforts in an attempt to make the complicated deal happen.  Thanks also to the many members of the Valley Reuse committee who have worked diligently on proposals over the past year or so.

The school building is a liability to the District and they are anxious to get rid of the liability asap.

Demolition could start as soon as February 1 with a goal of having the job complete prior to April 1, 2010.
The Ice Rink Is Open
The Ice Rink Is Open and in Good condition... Conditions are improving daily as more coats of water are added.  Some say the conditions are better this year than ever.

We will try to update the town website every couple of days with conditions.

Ice Skate Rentals:
This year we will be offering two types of rentals...

  • Daily rentals to everyone -- Skates are available beginning at Texas Pride Barbecue during their normal business hours (Tuesday - Saturday).  The price is $2.  To speed things up, print out and complete a release of liability and take it to Texas Pride.  The $2 fee goes to Texas Pride to help cover their distribution costs and hassles.
  • Group rentals  -- If you youth, school or business group would like a night or day of fun, let us know and we will strive to have skates available to accomodate your group.  A release of liability is posted at HuntsvilleTown.com and will need to be completed prior to ANY rental.
Happy New Year To All:
This is a very special time of year and we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!!

That's All For Now - Have a nice week,
