The opening of the exhibition of works by Ghanaian and UK artists on the eve of independence day aimed to bring the mind of the audience to the feelings of high expectation and excitement in the historic events that took place 57 years ago.
Against this background the artists, scholars, organisers and the general public had insightful, thought-provoking conversations regarding the process of discovering and creating new site specific art works relating to the legacy of Du Bois, especially from the viewpoint of the current post independence generation.
There was poetry and music after the programme. The online site, pachub , an extension of the project aims to support young creative people on the continent and shows more of the works and resources of the project.
A workshop followed the next day attended by children from James Town community and St. Mary's Senior High School who braved the torrential rain to take part in the silhouette workshop with Mary Evans.
The exhibition continues till 13 April at the Du Bois centre and will be showing at the Nubuke Foundation till end of April.
