2 Samuel 22:2-3 My God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge, my Shield and the Horn of my salvation. He is my Stronghold, my Refuge.

THE LORD IS MY ROCK AND MY FORTRESS

I believe in God the Father, Maker of heaven and earth. I put my trust in no one on earth: not even myself or any power, skill, possession, saintly character, or whatever else I may possess. I put my trust in the one true, invisible, and incomprehensible God, Maker of heaven and earth, who is above all creation. I am not afraid of the wickedness of the devil and his followers, for my God is high above them all! I believe in Him even though I am poor, foolish, unlearned, despised, abandoned, persecuted, and lacking in all things. I do not ask God for a sign or token, for I do not wish to tempt Him. No matter how long He waits, I do not limit Him as to terms or time, measure or means. In a sincere and trusting faith, I leave all things to His divine will. Since He is almighty, what could I desire, that He would not give or do for me? Since He is the Maker of heaven and earth and Lord of all things, who will rob me or harm me? He makes all things work for my good. Because He is my Father, He does it gladly.

Prayer: Dear Father, I come to You for refuge. You are my Rock of strength and Fortress of protection against all that would harm me in body or spirit. In the church year to come, may I always realize You are there, willing and ready to aid me. Despite my best intentions, I still sin against Your holy will. Forgive and keep me in Your grace for the sake of Jesus. Amen.
