The Omura-Saxena Endowed Professorship in Responsible AI gets a $1 million founding gift

The idea behind the new professorship and the gift are both courtesy Manoj Saxena (MBA '91), founder and CEO of CognitiveScale and the first GM of IBM Watson. He sees both a bright upside and a dark downside to artificial intelligence, and he wants to ensure only the former comes to be. 

“I have never been more worried about AI than I am now, because this technology — if you don’t deploy it properly, and don’t make it accessible properly — will end up making the rich richer, and it will end up making the evil more evil,” Saxena said at an MBA Reunion event on Nov. 9.
