Next week is the final round of the Projected Image Competition which is being judged by Colin Harrison FRPS MPAGB FBPE MFIAP. Colin is a well known judge on both the national and international exhibition circuits and brings his own style of judging so this should provide an interesting and entertaining evening.

Bristol Parks & Green Spaces
The University of the West of England is taking part in a project to record the green spaces and parks in Bristol as part of Bristol being the European Green Capital year 2015.

The Digital Photographic Archive will become part of a permanent part of this project and involves the creation of a digital archive of photographs of these areas. A selection of images from the archive will be chosen for a series of exhibitions and a touring exhibition at schools, libraries, and community venues.

If you would like to submit images of your local park or green spaces, you can upload them using this link where you will find an upload form and further links to other digital media

Bristol Salon Presentation
Don't forget, this year's Salon presentation is not at QEH, it will now be held at the clubrooms on 25 March and is primarily for BPS members. There will hopefully be a second show at the new clubrooms on a Sunday afternoon after we have moved (date yet to be fixed) which will be open to all. Obviously seating at West Mall is limited (60 max), so if you wish to bring friends and/or family then maybe it will be worth waiting until the showing at the new premises.

Free Book - But You'll Need To Be Quick!
Sorry this is a bit short notice, but the following is available as a free download if you do it today (Sunday):

"I thought you might like to know that I have arranged for my bestselling book “Essential Photoshop” to be available for FREE on the 14th and 15th March 2015 (here is the link to Amazon.co.uk). On these days you will be able to download this title for free from your local Amazon website. The book has gained a lot of positive 4 and 5 star reviews and has been a good seller since published so I am taking a financial risk by giving it away. What I hope is that the free offer reaches many photographers who will learn about and join the Lenscraft website.
If you can find a moment to share this news with others I would be extremely grateful. Pass on the email, post it on Facebook, Tweet it, mention it in forum discussions. Any sharing of the news would be really appreciated.
I hope you can take advantage of the offer.

Robin Whalley of Lenscraft"

Clifton Parking
Monday 16 March sees the start of the new residents parking scheme in Clifton so members are advised to go to the City Council's website to see how the new scheme will affect them over the transition period from the commencement of the scheme and the move to Montpelier. You can see a more detailed view of the actual proposals by clicking here for the Clifton South proposals and here for the Clifton North proposals. There is no doubt that this is going to hit us hard, but we will hopefully be leaving all of this behind very shortly.

Items Wanted
Does anyone have a Smart Media (card) reader (languishing at the bottom of a drawer or at the back of a cupboard) that your esteemed Membership Secretary could borrow following the discovery of a cache of SM cards? Sadly, she has no method of telling what is on them and is loath to spend hard earned money on a reader if they prove to be empty. If you can help, please contact Carol (0117 924 1338) or have a word next Wednesday evening.

Items For Sale
Items will remain in this section for one month from the date of insertion or until notification of sale, whichever is the sooner.
Please let the newsletter editor know if/when any of the items listed are sold.
