Feedback on CFU Cabinets logo

Below is a message from the SIRFB asking community members if there are potential comments regarding the proposed locations for 4 additional CFU Cabinets

Back in 2014 the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) installed a Community Fire Unit (CFU) Cabinet on Richard Road near the top of Bell Steps. This cabinet is equipped with firefighting equipment to facilitate a quick response in an emergency situation.

It is now proposed to augment this cabinet with additional ones at the following locations:

  1. Corner of Florence Terrace and Elsie Steps on the water side near the concrete drain
  2. Near RFS Water Tank 3 at the top of the Island above Cargo Wharf
  3. On the corner of the road up from Cargo Wharf and Robertson Road – on the water side
  4. Near RFS Water Tank 1 at the top of the Island – the eastern most tank

These locations are all on public land controlled by the Northern Beaches Council either as road reserves or as parks.

Cabinet

This linked document gives the precise locations with photos.

If anybody has an issue with any of the proposed locations could they please reply ASAP as the Northern Beaches Council plans to begin installing the concrete pads for the additional CFU cabinets in the next few weeks.

Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Graeme Crayford

Message of Thanks

Cass

Even more special than receiving the award for Outstanding Community Service on Australia Day, are the messages of love and congratulations from everyone! Thank you all!

A special thank you to Shar Jones who engineered this whole thing, to those who supported the nomination and also Northern Beaches Council who selected me as a worthy recipient! It is an honour!

I have to share this award with Bill, as a double act, all those on the SIRA Committee with whom I have worked as a team over the years who have similarly volunteered an enormous amount of time and energy, the many residents who have contributed to our vibrant, special and unique community and the efforts of our Western Foreshore neighbours who share common issues and challenges living offshore.

It is a privilege to have been part of this wonderful community for 40 years!

Garden Waste in Pittwater

Recently we have encountered lots of garden waste tossed into the Pittwater. Whilst I know it is natural vegetation, large objects such as palm fronds can be extremely hazardous as they are difficult to see and can destroy an engine or worse.

Please keep your garden waste in your yard until the green clean-up. March 27th.

Cheers Tracy
