Hi there, I wish this was a “happy” email like the others I send you, but, unfortunately, it’s not. This is somber and serious; very serious. A good friend of mine and a fellow DGYer, Brooke R. was recently diagnosed with breast cancer… and it is extremely aggressive. It’s so aggressive that she is going in for a double mastectomy immediately– on the first of August. That’s right… in a couple of days (I told you…very serious). Chances are, you might even know Brooke. She is extremely active in our community. She’s a true gem. Now, even though Brooke’s insurance is covering the surgery, there is still so much more that she needs to deal with. She is going to be out of work for quite some time to recover from the surgery… On top of that she also needs to go through chemo. And, of course, she needs reconstructive surgery as the final step.
Not only that, but, ever since I decided to start Darn Good Yarn, she has always been there for me (and the company!) I decided that Darn Good Yarn would give her something after everything she has done for it. Now, I don’t need to tell you that right now Brooke is terrified. To be clear, this is all happening (from diagnosis to surgery) in a matter of less than six weeks… And, in all sincerity, I feel the same way.
To be clear, I am not making ANY profit on this and, in fact, I am donating out of my pocket. I am just using the scarves to subsidize the donations and let Brooke know that there are a LOT of people who care. Not only that, but if you order a scarf, I will send you a 10% discount code for your next order. So– Help a GREAT woman in need, get a PHENOMENAL scarf, and get a MAJOR discount on your next order.
