Hello Firstname

Wednesday 17 September
Simon Caplan LRPS presents his talk Extraordinary Ordinary. Simon’s striking "found" still-life images reveal the hidden beauty that can often be discovered and photographed in everyday settings and mundane objects – if you just look hard enough. In his talk he shares his unique approach and offers ideas on how photographers can think differently and use their camera as a creative tool to find unusual images where they might least expect to do so.
Visit Simon's website to see what makes him tick.

Print Competition - Round 1
Next Wednesday is the closing date for Round 1 of the new season of print competitions. The judge will be David Gibbins, ARPS CPAGB AFIAP. Please put your prints in the appropriate box in the window at the back of the meeting room. For newer members, or for those dipping their toes into the competitive world for the first time, you can find full details in the competition rules on pages 22 and 26 of the current BPS Handbook. Please ensure that your prints carry the image title, your name and grade (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced) on the back of the mount.
If you have any queries, please contact the Competition Secretary (Margaret Collis - email: collismuriel@talktalk.net) and I'm sure that she'll be only too happy to help you.

Print Display Boards
In an attempt to maintain a "rolling display" of members' prints on the display panels in the clubrooms, Margaret Collis is looking for volunteers to provide prints; she is grateful to the three members who have already agreed to provide prints for the next three weeks but is looking for a couple more for the weeks from 12 November to 3 December. Please either speak to Margaret at next Wednesday's meeting or email her at the address shown above.

BPS Members Walk For Charity
BPS members, Steve Newman & Graham Reeves, took part in a 26 mile trek from Stonehenge to Avebury in aid of the Alzheimer's Society last weekend. Many of us will consider the trek from John Lewis to M&S at Cribbs Causeway to be their definition of a marathon, so it's hats off to this pair for managing a marathon over extremely rough terrain (well, no tarmac and a lot of ups and downs) even more so as they completed it in a little under 9 hours and in the process raised much needed funds for a worthy cause.

Graham & Steve would like to say thank you all BPS members who gave their generous support. The response exceeded all expectations and will help an important organisation, but one that doesn't get the support of some of the more fashionable causes.

Colour Printing Masterclass on You Tube
Marrutt Digital has published a free 10-part video training course “Colour Printing Masterclass” on YouTube. It is for professionals and enthusiasts who want to bring their colour inkjet printing standards up to the highest possible level.
Go to www.marrutt.com/colour and you get instant access to the audio-visual movies without having to navigate YouTube. There is a total of 4 hours of expert tuition. A final training video on Black & White inkjet printing will be published by Marrutt in the autumn.
“Within these videos, we demonstrate correct colour principles with the aid of a standard calibrated, accurate colour inkjet print, which we are happy to mail out free of charge. Simply e-mail us with your full postal address, and the words “Test Print” in the subject line to: digital@marrutt.com ..........”, said John Read, MD of Marrutt.
This latest training course has been added to a large library of free Marrutt online training videos on YouTube under the search words “Inkjet Printing Masterclass”.
“We have had many years of experience in helping professional photographers and enthusiasts to achieve the best possible results from their inkjet printers and with these Masterclass videos we will be able to help a great number more around the world,” said John Read.
