"In a dark time, the eye begins to see." |
A happy, healthy, prosperous, and engaging New Year from all of us here at Outpost One! As the days begin to lengthen, we take this special time to reflect on the return of the light. The winter solstice, the longest night of the year, signals the beginning of the transition from winter to spring, with the sun growing stronger and the days getting longer. Even though it still feels like winter, we are reminded that change is coming. Spring may be months away, but it draws nearer with every day. With all the social upheaval and economic distress happening here and around the world, it may seem that things are getting worse. As we see from the solstice, cyclic change is inevitable. If it seems dark now, remember that it is always darkest before the dawn. We are in the midst of a global awakening that shakes the foundations of an old paradigm that is no longer sustainable. Each one of us can add our light to the darkness, illuminating the path toward a new paradigm of universal harmony, a time when all humans will work together to restore our Earth to the beautiful and sustainable home that it can be. All hail the return of the light! We hope you had the good fortune of being with friends and family over the holidays, eating and drinking together in shared communion and making a circle of camaraderie and good will. We trust that your festivities were made even richer with music, art, dance, drum, song, or story. The cycle of the year reminds us that we can add layers of meaning to our lives by honoring natural cycles. Engaging in annual traditions or activities with your biological or spiritual family creates bonds that enhance the good times and comfort us in hard times. As we prepare here at Outpost One for the adventures of 2012, we remember with gratitude all that you’ve done in the last year to make the world a better place. You have inspired us with a universal vision that serves all people, all Life, and our precious Earth and its climate. May we resolve in the coming year to continue meeting regularly, standing up for our values as we find creative and inspiring ways to get others to join us. May the blessings of the synchronicities
