Flowers are blooming
The sunshine is everywhere
Spring has just begun

MIGHTY MANATEES RETURN FROM CENTRAL AMERICAN TOUR! - Actually, it was 5 days in Roatan, Honduras. We played Monkey Island, Land's End, and Co Co Vu (which you had to get to by boat, like "The African Queen"). Our drummer Myles Rothwell played brilliantly during our first show despite not having the benefit of any cymbals (he DID have a high-hat). At our last show, I accidentally blew up a guitar amp and Jozo had to run his Stratocaster through the p.a. system. And in between those shows, we played at Co Co Vu, which hosts one of the top ten diving spots in the entire world. During the days, we swam, we ate, we drank, and we were hustled by local masseuses and hair weavers. Myles fed the local deer so much that they ended up knocking on his hotel room door. Fred, the manager of the Rising Sun Inn, became our de facto road manager. He and Jozo went snorkeling. I wound up writing a song. When we got back home, K-Jo was sick for a week (bad water). But he's OK now, folks. All in all, it was an amazing adventure that we will remember as long as we can. Special thanks to Doug White, Lynn Dee, Brion James, Adi, Fred, and Dave the drummer.

JEFFREY JONES SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WEBSITE - Jeffrey Jones was the brother of Manatees soundman/archivist Michael Jones. He died from cancer in 1989 at the age of 21. After his passing, a scholarship award was set up in his name, and in 1991 a benefit concert was held featuring The Manatees, Living Earth, Jim Femino and others. A documentary film about Jeffrey, the scholarship, and the benefit concert is being completed this month by director Brian Miksis. This new home page contains a short film which is comprised of portions from the longer form documentary "Life Is Fair". Jim Cavanaugh and I contibuted the soundtrack music.
