Newly Discovered Virus Linked to Deadly Kidney Disease in Cats

Researchers have found evidence of a new virus, similar
to that found in dogs, that may be responsible for kidney
disease in some cats.

A woman is under fire for trying to reduce the cat
population in Liberty, Missouri. The city wants to
fine her for exceeding the pet limit, but she says
they are ferals in the woods NEAR her home, not IN it.
So far, she is succeeding, as there are only 12 cats
in the colony that could have become 100 by now. But
the city isn't impressed.

The Cat In The Hat To Get A Second Go At The Big
Screen

According to CinemaBlend.com, a new movie version of the Dr.
Seuss story, The Cat In the Hat, is being considered for
production after the recent success of The Lorax, which has
already made $132 million in two weeks.

Here are 3 versions of the story:

The first ever "test tube cat" was born February 6 at
the New Orleans, Louisiana ACRES facility (Audubon Center
for Research of Endangered Species).

The embryo was grown in a lab dish, frozen, then implanted
in an ordinary housecat.

The kitten is an endangered black-footed African wildcat, the
smallest of the world's cats. There are approximately only
10,000 of them left in the wild.

CAT FOOD NEWS

This may not be considered cat food "news," but
it's interesting to note the evolution of how we
feed our cats.

Help Feed Shelter Animals

Don't forget to visit these sites as often as you can and
click on the shelter-feed links. There is no cost to you
to do this, but it can only be done once per day.

Say Happy Birthday to our kitty, Holly! She's 23 this month!
Still spry and prancing around, she eats well but has fewer
teeth and her tongue hangs out more often, along with drool!

TAKE ACTION TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED
===================================

How to help animals:

----------------------------

1. http://www.hipaws.com/help.html
Help feed the ones that never got adopted.

2. Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals.
