Epiphany Day
1 Peter 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.
BEHOLD YOUR GOD
Last night was the Eve of Epiphany, marking the end of the Christmas season in the church calendar. Sometimes known as "Twelfth Night," I noticed that it brought a certain dryness to our Christmas tree and the distinct absence of carols to the local classical radio station.
But as we say good-bye to another special celebration of Christ's coming to Bethlehem, we usher in the days of Epiphany -- also exciting and full of wonder. During Christmas, we saw the birth of the newborn King. During Epiphany, He is fully revealed to us as the Son of God. Traditional Bible readings for this season include miracles of Jesus such as the "Wedding at Cana" (John 2), "The Healing of the Leper" (Matthew 8), and "The Stilling of the Storm" (Matthew 8). These lessons show us that Jesus is full of the glory of God, divine in every sense. He is truly a helper able to meet all our needs.
Christmas gave you the gift. Epiphany unwraps it for you. Enjoy this Treasure and give thanks to God!
