May's Memory Verse
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The phrase, "little is much, when God is in it" has been, not only a great encouragement to many folks (especially smaller sized churches), but has been proven time and time again.

God reinforced this great truth in my heart anew the other morning as I was reading of Gideon.  Here is a man who was "small" in his own eyes and went to battle with a "small" band of men, yet God gave a great victory.

The following are some thoughts about Gideon and God's call upon his life.
  • God called a man that was working.
  • God called a man that did not expect to be called.
  • God called a man that felt incompetent to be called.
  • God called a man that was greatly burdened for the spiritual well being of his people.
  • God called a man that He (God) would eventually equip for the "ministry" God called him to.
  •  God called a man that was obedient.
  • God called a man that struggled with fear.
  • God called a man that was willing to follow the methods God gave him.
  • God called a man that was eager that God get all the glory.

Little, truly is much, when God is in it!

There's a lot coming up in the next few days and weeks.

"Mothers & Daughters" banquet this Friday evening this Friday evening, (May 11) at 6:30 p.m.  It's not too late to get in on this great evening.  There are gifts for everyone, lasagna, special music, poems, and a challenge by Sandy Schofield.  Call the church for more information.

Sunday, May 13th, is Mother's Day.  We have a special service planned to honor our mothers.  A special "Mother's Breakfast" will be served Sunday morning in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m.

The "Grand-daddy" of events here at MLIBC is our Annual World Wide Faith Promise Missions Conference beginning next Wednesday (May 16-20).  This is the single most important meeting we have all year.  This is where we, as a church, decide what and how much we will participate in World Missions.  Mark 16:15 is our Lord's command, and our missions conference is our response.  Dr. Pat Creed and three other missionary families will be joining us to share their burden to the countries God has called them to reach.  Saturday evening is the exciting "International Banquet" with food from cultures around the world.  Of course, Sunday is the all important "Faith Promise" service where we collect up everyone's faith promise to missions for the coming year.

Our missions conference (and really, all our events) require the diligent and earnest prayers of God's people.  Pray for God's will to be accomplished, for souls to be saved and believers to be revived and refreshed.

I am especially grateful to Dr. Williams and everyone that filled in for Kathy & I while we were in Puerto Rico.  We had a wonderful time and saw God do some great things at 35th anniversary of Maranatha Baptist Church.

Check out this Sunday's bulletin for our schedule of services and be sure to bring your Bible and a friend this Sunday.

Sincerely, your friend,
