RP Boo – a.k.a. Kavain Space needs little to no introduction - a man so revered and respected amongst the dance music cognoscenti. He’s cited as one of the originators of Footwork, the fast, repetitive, rhythmically syncopated music & dance style that’s a grandchild of Chicago house and which has been brought to the wider world via releases from Planet Mu and others, alongside internet archaeology from fans, experts and enthusiasts.
Without RP Boo, footwork wouldn’t exist as we know it. The Chicago DJ/producer helped invent the genre in the late 1990s with a song called “Baby Come On,” which mangled and stretched out the blistering ghetto house songs he was hearing in his hometown. Even as footwork expanded into a global genre—thanks in part to the late DJ Rashad and his Teklife crew— RP Boo remained an undersung godfather to the genre until 2013, when a pair of archival releases (Legacy and Fingers, Bank Pads & Shoe Prints) showed his lasting influence.
We are now accepting proposals for RP BOO's heart rate accelerating, exhilirating sets - hit us up for dates in May - around the Berlin for Pitchfork Music Festival, and over the summer season.
