Two Exeter University students are arrested whilst trying to film a video in the roughest suburb of Paris.
PYNK&BLU’s first video and collaboration with Hustler Design showcases Makan Fofana's story of how his upbringing did not stop him from becoming a successful entrepreneur.

After hearing about Makan Fofana’s story in October 2017 two EXETER UNIVERSITY business students, Guy Brown and Antoine Charlet decided to create a video to showcase his story to demonstrate individualism in line with their new clothing brand PYNK&BLU.
Backed by the global startup incubator Schoolab based in Paris, they decided to contact the Parisian entrepreneur, Mr.Fofana, to produce a video that would give insight to his story with the backdrop of the rough and edgy Parisian neighbourhood, Trappes.
The two students set off o Paris to shoot the video, depicting Makan’s struggle in the suburb as someone with higher aspirations in a society where difference is not easily tolerated. During the shoot the two students were arrested for using drone footage and their camera was confiscated. They took a risk and kept on filming using another camera.
The two students were met by abuse from the local Parisians who threw eggs at them whilst filming. With the odds set against them, they persisted and managed to finish production and produce the video which is now viewable online.
The video is 2 minutes long and includes an encapsulation of Makan’s life in the suburbs, including his struggle with discrimination and funding. The ending provides his positive progress giving the viewer and sense of hope and courage.
PYNK&BLU is a clothing brand founded in July 2017 by Guy Brown aged 18. In September 2017, Antoine Charlet, 18 (from Paris) invested in the company and became a co-founder.
The brand started from the initial social stigma that certain colours were inextricable with certain genders. Since then the brand has evolved and now has taken on the slogan ‘Be Unique Be PYNK&BLU’ promoting difference within society. 'We ask people one simple question: 'What is your PYNK&BLU', with the aim to discover the unique side of every individual' Guy Brown, Founder of PYNK&BLU.
P&B's target audience is 18 - 30 and they are now planning to collaborate with emerging and established artists on their next collection. Please click here to view film
