Welcome back Daisy Brook families!
We had a fantastic first week of the 2021-2022 school year! I was wonderful to have kids back in our classrooms and to hear their laughter in the hallways as well as on our playground!
We have implemented a few changes from last year's schedule. Upon arrival to school (not before 7:30 but not after 7:55) students enter the building and can either go to the cafeteria to enjoy breakfast or head off to their classrooms to have a quiet start to their day. At 7:55 our day officially begins! A few things we have noticed as we have changed our morning drop off procedure--with school starting at 7:55 students being dropped off after 7:50 really need to hustle into the school to be on time for the start of class. If you are arriving after 7:55 to drop your student off you will need to do so in front of the school in the loop.
Lunch is served in the cafeteria this year, not in classrooms. Our kids have a 20 minute recess, followed by a 20 minute lunch, and then another 20 minute recess. If students happen to not finish their lunch within our scheduled time for their class they are welcome to continue eating until they finish.
During the day our students have a 40 minute "special" (PE, Music, or Tech class) and a 15 minute grade level recess, as well as Library time once a week.
Our dismissal is at 2:55. Students board our buses up on the hill behind our playground or can be picked up in the loop in front of the school.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work through the first few days of the school year.
Our MAP TESTING window begins after Labor Day. Please check in with your child's teacher to see when their class is scheduled to take the Reading and Math MAP tests. These assessments help us get to know your child's individual learning needs and plan for their instruction.
