Looking Back ...
Summer Course on Fear, Anxiety, Obsessions and Trauma 2016

This year's Summer Course started successfully and we can look back on an intensive but very enjoyable week in Florence. It was great to meet our new and senior students from all over the world. We hope to see many of them again next Summer for another summer course or the defence of their dissertation.

We would like to thank our guest lecturers for enriching our course with their presence, and also our thanks to our directors for their efforts to meet and mingle with the students.

During this Summer Course,5 students defended their Master Thesis. Congratulations to Agorastos Agorastos (Greece), Lai Fong Chan (Malaysia), Davinder Hans (Australia) María Riveros (Chile), Georgios Schoretsanitis (Switzerland)

Two students about the Summer Course 2016

Katie Yunes (US)
I have thoroughly enjoyed the summer course at Villa Finaly and have met wonderful friends and colleagues from around the world. The course was challenging and illuminated the field of affective neuroscience in a way that has helped me to develop a greater knowledge from diverse perspectives. The PBL sessions allowed peers from backgrounds of psychiatry, psychology, and research to come together, bridge the gap between the professions, and provide insight from their field. The expert-lecturers’ talks delivered results of innovative research and there were ample opportunities to share thoughts and ask questions. In addition to the course, the location of the Villa and the building’s renaissance architecture couldn’t be more beautiful. This course exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to return next year.

Anna Asratian (Sweden):
For long I have been interested in the mix of behavior and neurobiology in the field of neuroscience. Finding and attending the Summer course on Fear, Anxiety and Trauma gave me exactly what I was looking for. First of all, the course is set place in Florence, a beautiful city that offers a spectrum of sights and very good food. Secondly, the atmosphere of the course was very open and kind, everybody was open for discussion, including the organizers and lecturers. Lastly, the course gave a broad range of knowledge and depths of the fields presented, which was perfect for my taste. And after every lecture stimulating discussions followed. It was an intense couple of days, but it was absolutely worth it. It was a memory of a lifetime!
